We had an extremely successful and very special run of Canon in D Minor! I feel so grateful to have met such lovely and talented people on this project, and to have had the privilege to present this story to such beautiful audiences.
Here are a few reviews of the show: "Nothing less than brilliant" - David Roberts, Theatre Reviews Limited "Unquestionable talent and imagination" - Roy Cohen, Backstage There's a few great projects that I am pleased to be working on this summer! I'm back at the NY Fringe festival this year in Canon in D Minor, a new play written by Jessica Liadsky and directed by Rachel Slaven. I feel very lucky to be working with such a talented group of people! Visit http://www.canonindminor.com/ for full details and ticket information! I'm also proud to announce my very first solo gig-- just me, my guitar, and a few tunes you might know! Mark your calendars for Monday, 8/13 at 8:30pm at the TONY Lounge at New World Stages. More info on this gig to come!
There's a few more Jumpers Orchestra dates left this summer as well - check out http://www.meetthejumpers.com/ or my Show page for more details! Stay cool friends! :) I was asked to jump on board a fun play called Super Nova: Skies of Death at UglyRhino's recent evening of 10 minute plays. We had a fantastic time with the hilarious script, written by Ken Keating. I loved every second!
It's a busy spring here in the city! This month has been abuzz with a reading series of The Waiter Project. The first two installments, at Studio353 and The Players Theatre, were a huge success. Don't miss the third and final presentation, coming up Tuesday, 5/29 at 7pm at Primary Stages! I'll also be singing with Scott Stein and his Well Groomed Orchestra in an encore appearance at The Bitter End on Wednesday, May 23rd at 8pm. And for those of you wishing to get outdoors and kick off the start of summer can travel up the Hudson to see me sing with The Jumpers Orchestra on Sunday, June 3rd at Croton-on-the-Hudson.
On a personal note, I'll be saying "Bon Voyage" to my fiance this week as he ships off to War...Horse! Michael Wyatt Cox will be playing "Billy" on the National Tour of War Horse, opening in LA this June and touring the country through 2013. Coming soon to a city near you... get your tickets now! I'm so excited to be working on The Waiter Project again, after having done a reading of it last year at Primary Stages. The play, written by Elizabeth Swearingen, centers around the lives of actor/waiters in NYC who find themselves the subject of a new reality series. We'll be doing several readings over the next few months and the team has started a Kickstarter campaign:
Donate Now! SmartMouth Productions, the film/photography/media company that I am also proud to be a part of, is working on the project as well and filmed a recent private reading. Stay tuned for more of SmartMouth's involvement with the show! Back in October of last year I had the pleasure of performing in Karen O's rock opera, Stop the Virgens, at St. Ann's Warehouse (dir. Adam Rapp). The show was an absolute blast, and gave me the opportunity to work with so many brilliantly creative musicians, artists, and performers. The Creator's Project worked in partnership with the production and created a 30 min documentary about the process. See Part 1 here (with links to production stills and Part 2):
http://www.thecreatorsproject.com/creators/karen-o-in-stop-the-virgens On Monday 2/13 I had the pleasure of performing in UglyRhino's TinyRhino V Day Eve Celebration at the Brooklyn Lyceum. TinyRhino is their take on the 10 min play festival-- happening every month, they commission six playwrights to write plays that include five different elements. Everytime one of these elements occurs onstage, the audience drinks. That's right -- its a theatrical drinking game!
The piece I performed in was called "Love, Confusion, and Other Fun" by Aaron Wigdor Levy, directed by Danny Sharron. I was lucky to have the brilliant Craig Mungavin as my scene partner. For more info on all of UglyRhino's events, visit www.uglyrhinonyc.com. |
